Hello, my lovelies! Today, I wanted to do something different and share my perspective on the “Unpopular Beauty Opinions” tag. This tag was first seen on the lovely Lulle’s Blog. Two YouTubers created it. It’s really interesting to see how other people view makeup and trends. Who knows, you might find out that your opinion doesn’t seem so out of place after all. For now, I’m going to share my answers to these questions. Hope you enjoy it!
Makeup products that you dislike
I don’t know if these are still popular, but I couldn’t stand them. Baby Lips Range by Maybelline. Back in the day, I saw these lip balms everywhere, so I bought a few. It seemed worth a try for the low cost! It was a total disappointment. These feel waxy and artificial, and they do not hydrate lips. It could be just my lips, but I know many people who love these. Don’t get me started with their Baby Skin. I used a primer that caused me to break out and made my face ten times oilier than it was before …! I try to avoid anything that contains the Baby range.
A popular makeup brand that you like but others hate
I wouldn’t have called it that. ‘hated. It is a brand that sells well but could be controversial. Jeffree Star Cosmetics. Jeffree’s makeup is great. I won’t get into all the controversy and drama surrounding him, but I love his products. The price is reasonable, and the quality is excellent. The quality is always top-notch, but the price point isn’t completely ridiculous. Velour The lipstick range is my favorite liquid lipstick formula because it doesn’t dry out the lips and is highly pigmented. It also lasts a long time.
Makeup collaboration you did not like or were not interested in
Any major YouTuber collaboration is welcome. There are so many that I cannot keep up with all of them. In addition to the above, I would also like to mention Disney x ColourPop. Recently, a collab blew up in social media. It’s a great idea, and I was excited to learn about it. The Lipstick range is absolutely stunning. Each one is named after a Disney Princess. I love the way highlighters look. The collab was not without its flaws, namely the Eyeshadow palette. It seems just a bit… Meh. I expected something more magical, whimsical, and fairytale-like!
A popular makeup step you should never perform
Contouring is a must. I tried it twice but was completely inept at it. I admire someone who can contour well, but I have never tried it myself. It’s also incredibly time-consuming and doesn’t seem to be worth it when I am already pressed for morning time!
Popular beauty influencers you don’t watch/subscribe to
Since I’m being honest, I don’t watch much. My impression is that the YouTube beauty community is toxic. It’s full of drama and controversies, and it’s focused on the incorrect topics. People seem to be constantly competing with each other by ‘exposing’ them and doing all sorts of things rather than focusing on the reason they created a beauty channel. My makeup and beauty news comes from other beauty bloggers I follow and visit regularly. We are a small but tight-knit group!
Popular Makeup Products/Brands that you no longer use or support
I can’t really think of any brands that I would not support, even though there are some makeup products I love but haven’t used for a long time. Take a look at the products I used to love but haven’t used in a long time. What’s in your makeup bag? Post from 2015 (the cringe!) I no longer use the products that I mentioned in 2015, even though I once swore by them all!
A makeup trend you don’t want to try
Do you remember the days when YouTubers would use all kinds of items instead of makeup brushes to apply their makeup? From food to craft supplies and even more questionable objects, we’ve seen it all. That’s it. It would be the most popular eyebrow trend today. You can shape your eyebrows using concealer (for example). – I’m still stuck in the early 2000s when it comes time to do my eyebrows. I’m also completely useless! While I admire the brows on Instagram, I stick to doing my brows with just the basics.

The only way to go is up Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation! So many people love this foundation. I have read a lot of positive reviews. This foundation did not work on my skin. It was greasy and patchy, and it kept sliding off of my face. My skin must have a thing against this foundation! Another would be the Anatasia Beverly Hills Norvina. It’s an eyeshadow palette that is full of beautiful, playful, pigmented colors. It is one of the most delicate formulas I have ever used. These eyeshadows are so fragile that you have to be very careful when dipping them in. They can cause a lot of damage and mess. A lot of Fallout. The application is so beautiful!
